John Denver, a singer-songwriter of Colorado who specialized in folk-pop music touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's iconic anthems for Colorado have been a major influence on many to move to the state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado like John Denver." In 2011, Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. Denver has been the symbol of Colorado to the people all over. On my trips I've encountered individuals who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado The first thing they say are Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's top 10 hit after he performed with small folk music bands. It was co-written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version of the song and realized it was going to be a top 10 hit. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following playing in Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
