Matthew Matt James was born in North Carolina on December 5 1991. The son of Manny James and Patty James of mixed race. He is the son of an Nigerian father and a Caucasian mother. James graduated in 2010 of Sanderson High School. In 2015, he earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Wake Forest University. James gained fame when he appeared on The Bachelorette as a reality TV star. James was chosen in the year 2020 to be the season's 25th bachelor on The Bachelor, becoming the first African American lead. The show premiered on the 20th of January in.
